  • Of all the CT cuvees, this is the best. I am glad I waited a bit.

  • Starting to come together and drink very well - expect very good things from this over the next at least 7-10 years with a very likely corresponding improvement in score as the wine further mellows, softens and balances. This will never be mistaken for anything remotely Old World. Quite a reasonable QPR at release cost, this value will improve with more aging as wine further matures and I definitely recommend this wine. Right now drink or hold, can be popped and poured but ideally right now needs a longish at least 2-3 hour decant if possible. Big wine, very full bodied, dark inky purple, oak softening but still strongly present with tannins now soft and overall very fruit forward with low acidity as has already been noted by several in the TN's below. Long aftertaste. Big initially somewhat funky nose (the typical Rocks funk, we love it but realize that it's a bit controversial and not everyone's thing) which blew off quickly leaving loads of dark plum, blueberry, kitchen spices, lilac and then black pepper on the end. Flavor profile of dominant oak and dark fruit up front with a more terroir driven mid- late palate of stone, earth and tar with a smoky finish and a hint of funk persists through out the palate.

  • PnP, consumed over two nights. Rich and savory, but soft. Oak was a bit strong in the first night but mellowed out considerably. Perfectly fine on initial pour but showed a bit better the second night.

  • Not decanted, but first glasses were poured out about half an hour early. Consumed over ~2 hours at just below room temp with BBQ ribs. This was fairly rich on the palate, and the dark fruit with its slightly funky/smoky/meaty background notes worked fairly well with our meal, although the oak is an overshadowing presence. My preference is for higher acidity, lower alcohol, and less oak to liven things up and let the fruit shine, but knowing what I was getting into based on previous notes, this served its intended purpose well. I have friends who would enjoy this quite a bit, and I'll plan to open my other bottle with some of them, probably within the next year.

  • Meh .......

Nothing horrible but also not a lot to get excited about. Heavy handed on the oak/vanilla and not enough acidity to give it some lift. Not a lot of upside anticipated. I would drink these up and enjoy as for what they are.
