Translucent red grape color with a watery rim. An intense and lively nose tart red fruits, wild flowers, forest herbs, moist earth, tobacco and leather. The palate is dry, tart and quite tannic, medium weight with a pretty good structure and power with plenty of alcoholic heat despite the lightish appearance. The flavour components invoke adjectives such as ripe cranberries, red currents, young strawberries, violets, dandelions, a touch of Solanum lycopersicum leaves, tobacco leaf, old worn leather and a mild oak finish. A very decent entry level Nebbiolo from a reliable producer.

A pretty generous score by my standards but justified. Despite being up against some very good wines double its price, this stood out as wine of the night at an Italian dinner with a 2009 Poliziano Vino Nobile di Montepulciano Vigna Asinone being the only equal for me. Nice structure, smooth and approachable. I'll definitely look into more wine from this region, and as PJaines mentions, it's well worth picking up from M&S if you see it in your local store.

Impressive for the price, with good depth and texture - very assured with a firmness to it that you dont usually get with Langhe at this price. Structured but supple - really a great wine at this price. Ticks all the boxes for Nebbiolo without being tarte or thin. In England you can get this at M&S stores, who really seem to have upped their game of late.
