Community Tasting Notes (2) Avg Score: 92.5 points

  • A library release from the winery that is outSTANDING! It has a very dark ruby color, no garnet or brick at the rim, even at 10 yrs old. The nose is immediately open for business, with blackberry, plum, pepper, leather, and a touch of anise. These are all reflected on the palate. The balance of fruit and non-fruit flavors, tannins, alcohol, and acidity is excellent! I can type more than 2 sentences before the finish fades (and I'm seriously sloowww). My wife liked it even more! Crazy good QPR, but alas, it's all gone.

At 10 yrs of age, you can experience a syrah that was properly cellared at Abacela. This wine displays earthy, meaty, and savory qualities akin to soy; olives and black pepper on the nose. With aeration the wine breathes out and becomes more vibrant, with figs, prunes and deep, dark fruit overtones. THe body is silky, from the softening of the tannins and integration of acidity; yielding a medium structured wine. Decanting recommended, 30-45 min before serving
