Still drinking well! Paired with grandmas lasagne. Strong leathery notes oak hints and dark fruit (cherries). Soft tannins, long smooth finish. Decanted and enjoyed on a cold winter night.

The second wine at this estate, made from young vine Sangiovese (50%), Cabernet-Sauvignon (25%) and Merlot (25%), aged in 50% new French barrique for 12 months, 14% ABV. Slightly porty, smooth and rich, rounded and supple, mild tannins, black fruit and spices, hint of currants, nice density and weight, good flavours and length. Flavoursome rather than precise or elegant. Went well with spicy sausage ragù. Solid performance, drink soon.

Made from 50% Sangiovese, 25% Merlot and 25% Cabernet. Relatively young vines- planted 1999-2003. Fermentation via natural yeasts in stainless steel, with 20-25 days skin contact. Ageing is 12-months in 225L French oak. 100,000 bottles produced, apparently.
This is deep blood red in colour. The nose is youthful but relatively simple. There are notes of blackcurrant, earth, undergrowth and Christmas spice. In the mouth this is clean and linear, with primary red/dark fruit flavours. The tannin structure is noticeable but not over-bearing.
Very good every day drinking. Ready to go now but will cellar nicely in the medium term and may gain more complexity.

This is a favorite of mine, and getting better as it ages. Rich, with leathery notes. The tannins will soften over the next few years. More in the cellar, and can't wait to see where this wine ends up.
