Decanted slightly aggressively. Plums, blackcurrant, tar, pot pourri, tar, leather, slight alcohol prickle, earth, a little mushroom. Lovely nose. Juicy tends to sharp acidity, fleshy, blackcurrant, lashings of lovely grippy, savoury, drying and slightly coarse tannins, savoury, a little umami, long. In a rather good spot. Drinking window as stated feels grossly underestimated based on this tasting.

Coravin fun - Piedmont (My place, Kent Street): Polished oak over ripe plum and blackcurrant, sweet spice, quite worked nose (especially in this bracket). Medium plus intensity acidity, grippy tannins feel quite woody with the oak flavours taking precedence over the fruit on the palate, needs a good decant.

IWS reprise (My place, Kent Street): From Coravin. Bold black fruits; cherry and currant, a little plum, sweet spice, cedar, a little cigar box almost and herbaceous underpin. Quite ripe in the mouth, it's juicy, rich though that ripeness is not overpowering. Tannins are slightly grainy, there is a touch of alcohol warmth on the finish which proves moderately intrusive and a smidge of plain chocolate. Hmm.

IWS Piedmont tasting (My place, Kent Street): From Coravin. Medium plus intensity aromas of oak & peppery spice, blackcurrant, plum, sweet spice, a little cherry, pot pourri, dried citrus peel, smells 'dense'. Medium plus intensity acidity, medium plus intensity flavours of plum over more muted cherry & blackcurrant, alcohol warmth on the back of the palate, tannins are like coarsely ground floor, all travels long. Hmm

Annual Coravin blitz - day two (My place, Kent Street): From Coravin. Blackcurrant, sweet spice, caramel, cedar, slightly peppery notes, slight dried flowers. In the mouth more of the same with fleshy acidity and plentiful, drying black tea tannins. Quite long. Time(?)
