Deep tanzanite color leads to a nose of forest fire. Initially body dominated by smoke, as if you were drinking liquid smoke, then smoke blows away leaving beautiful blackberry & cedar. Tannins are well integrated and last 30 seconds. Enjoyable bottle of wine with another 4 years of plateau. Enjoy if you own, but overpriced at $55 retail.

Agree with Florida on the earthy aromas. Maybe hay? Musty. Tobacco. Pine sol. Not the big syrah flavors I prefer (e.g., blueberries, plums, etc.) Very tannic. Had a real bite.

A beautiful wine. Deep dark purple color with a medium viscosity. A somewhat complex nose starting with plums and blackberry fading into more earthy aromas of cigar box and meat. Flavors lean towards earth and meat, though there are some dark berry notes. Harmonious balance with softening, but present tannins, and a decent finish. Could see potential of another 2-4 yrs of bottle aging, but not much more.

On the nose, blackberry, blueberry, plum, and some meatiness. On the palate, thin to medium-bodied, with flavors that follow the nose and some pepper easing into the medium-length, tannic finish. Good wine that needs a couple more years.

Waited too long, much of the fruit was gone. Dark purple, promising nose but disappointing.
