This top cuvee from Barboursville is a blend of Merlot, Cabernet Franc and Petit Verdot. In the glass the color is somewhere between plum and cranberry. The nose is all plum, cranberry, tobo, cedar, and vanilla. The wine finishes with a bit of mocha. The fine tannins suggest that this wine is more than ready to drink, and with the fruit in a good spot, why not? 13.5% alc. Some sediment. With blue cheeses. 03.31.22. Recommended.

The Arts Club Version of the 1976 Judgement of Paris, With Steven Spurrier (The Arts Club, London): Quite a surprise and would have never thought this as a new world nor from the "lesser" areas of the US like Virginia. A very good revelation. Restraint, elegant wine, very well made, good ripe core of fruit but in harmony with the acidity, light oak feel that complements the wine. Still on the young side and felt like it had a lot of life ahead of it. 91 for now

Decanted for 60 minutes. Continued to open for another 15. Classic Bordeaux blend, well-balanced with moderate tannins and good fruit.

Tasting of Virginia Wines (Keswick Vineyards and Barboursville Vineyards): Color: Purplish red
Nose: Very gamey
Palate: Stronger tannins, medium finish
Opinion: Only downside is the medium finish, if it had a longer fuller finish this could be an amazing wine.
