Tasted at Olivier Leflaive tasting lunch 2013 Olivier Leflaive Chassange Montrachet 1er Cru Close Saint Marc was pale lemon in colour, with nose of ripe yellow starfruit and a touch of funky yougurt. The mouthfeel was medium bodied and layered, with bright medium acidity upfront followed by mineral driven finish of medium length. (92)

Clos St. Marc is a small (1.7 ha) Clos in Les Vergers, where the domaine owns just over half. Aged for 12 months in 25% new oak, 13% ABV. The north-eastern exposure of the vineyard gives the wine a relatively structured character, and there is a distinct note of ripe green apple here. Other than that, the wine comes across as quite closed - it seems to need more time to develop its aromatic expression. The oak is unobtrusive but adds warmth and weight to a wine with good power and a mouth coating texture. Creamy lemon finish. Precision, balance and length are impeccable, and this should allow at least ten more years of positive development. Score also based on potential. In the courtyard at La Maison d’Olivier Leflaive, Puligny, France.

Musique & Vin Pre-Concert Dégustation (Château de Meursault): Tasting, brief note. Apple and lemon with refined spice hints. Good weight, very good length with bright minerality and acidity. Good now, with some possible upside, best now-2025.

Good color. The high toned nose shows aromas of minerals, white flowers, citrus, honeysuckle and a hint of peach. This is medium bodied on the palate with very good concentration and lovely finesse. The long finish features a strong mineral element.

Hint of wheat and cinnamon with a note of butterscotch; long spicy finish; great structure, flavor packed, showing very well. Loved this despite the oak rearing its head a bit.
