Uncorked about 7 hours before and chilled to around 65 degrees. Great nose throughout! This is my first Hyde Vineyard and maybe one of my first Carneros CS's to which I've ever paid attention. It improved with air while drinking over 3+hours, so it should be given a short decant. On the nose, this smelled dark-fruited with some of the oak barrel still evident, though not in an unpleasant way. It also showed with cassis, graphite, and lead, plus an occasional something like vanilla or root beer. It was medium-plus bodied with medium acidity, but had a light hollowness on the mid-palate that to me seemed different from traditional Napa floor CSs that took away from this one. Perhaps this is the terroir of Hyde vnyd coming thru, that I presume is cooler being in Carneros? All in all, it was quite enjoyable and while I think this bottle could've gone a few more years, I don't think it would've improved, so along with the other tasters of late I agree it's probably time to consume these.

Enjoyable, but definitely has hit its peak. Drink now if you have any left. The nose is fading, the tongue is dominated by the fruit, not a dried aged fruit, more of an unsweetened fruit juice character. Like my last review in 2013, it still pairs well with a nice steak.

Really blown away by this bottle. Terrific deep black fruits with licorice and cedar overtones. Almost like the challenge here was to combine the elements of left bank Bordeaux into the power of California. This wine will not however be better tomorrow, but couldn't be happier to consume it today.

Deep (almost black) ruby colour. Spectacular nose of black cherries, liquorice, camphor, pepper, spice, slightly smoky, hint of eucalyptus oil. Wonderful complexity on the palate, so smooth, silky tannins fully-integrated, full, well-rounded and such a delectable, long finish. What a great wine. Wish I had more than 2 bottles - but look forward to moving on to the 2007 !

Beautiful one. Dark berry fruit, hints of licorice and tar. Drink now.
