Oh boy this way past its prime. Leather, tobacco and assorted other old age dried fruits with licorice on the nose. No youth in the mouth. There is a steak marinade in this bottles future. It should be better right?
Tasted blind from a decanter. The color shows lots of bricking - this clearly has some age on it. Aromatics of leather and some earth. Faint mint/anise. On the palet, the wine is a little tart and dry with some dark fruit, spice, and earthy notes. The tarter fruit and dryness as well as the bricky color had me waffling between an italian sangiovese and an older california cab or zin. This was fun to taste. Thanks to Ken and Kelly for sharing it on an impromptu Monday night get together.

decanted for 1+ hours. nothing bad, but not much there ... a quick taste then gone ... once was good, but clearly past it's prime ... drank next to a 99 and 00 CB Cab. The 99 was better than the 98, the 00 better than the 99

Still holding on I suppose, with a certain amount of grace and elegance.
