Tawny-red colour, not especially deep, and with an amber rim.
Bold rich fruit-cake aromas, along with a touch of vanilla and some cherry menthol. Complex and intense.
More restrained on the palate and whilst initially sweet, there is a nice balance between sweet and savoury as the palate opens up. Surprisingly light bodied, yet with similar complexity to the nose. A little soft, and could use a little more acidity, but for some this might be a positive, and being comparatively light, this isn't as much of a problem as it would be in a richer wine.
No reason to hold further (this bought a year ago, so suspect it's not too long out of the winery)

Perfectly acceptable, inoffensive nose of raisin and paint thinner. Malty palate: acidity and alcohol are present, but not strong enough to punch through the flavour/feeling of soggy malt. Weird and unappealing.

Cherry liquer on the nose, with some toffee and a little lift from the spirit.
Sweet on the palate with good depth, but not overpowering. Nice fresh acidity keeps it in check and there's decent length to the finish. Not overly complex nor inspiring of contemplation, but a very enjoyable drink nonetheless.

An old favourite. Port it is not, but that's ok.
