A bit of an enigma. The nose is a little cider’ish and the palate too has a similar sourness. I think it must be due to an extended oxidation and maceration. Possibly premoxed…
The palate is a little more approachable with the trademark Chenin honey note pulling in mid way. Bruised tropical fruits and a sourness is the dominant force.
Not the best vintage of Fouchardes in my book. The ‘17 vintage is the best I’ve had.

PNP into Kimura Cava glass (“Root” day): Pale golden to the eyes.
Orchard fruits and some savouriness. Cidery nose.
Very enjoyable wine.
92 points to me.
3rd day upon opening (“Leaf” day): Oxidized brownish copper colour but not oxidative on nose and palate. A bit like apple juice with hints of spice indeed. Very interesting. Retain at 92 points.

Delicious Chenin Blanc, with the typical austerity and minerality of young Fouchardes. Dry, with structure in the mouth. A wine that keeps you thinking with every sip.

Lovely Chenin blanc. Looks and smells like an orange wine, very dry and fresh on the palate.
