A solid cab. Dense complex layers of black fruit, earth, and red currant. Notes of dark chocolate with integrated oak. Paired well with a prime New York strip.

A Day at Louis Martini (Napa, CA): Smells of tart red currants, vibrant plums and a whole lot of roses and violets. Shows the tart and fresh aspects of the vintage with crunchier red fruit, balanced out by an impressively firm tannic backbone and a sense of underlying strength. The plums, blackberry and dark currant fruit is juicy and tart, accented by complex elements of bell pepper, tobacco, eucalyptus, coffee and vanilla. Long, silky, refreshing finish with notes of floral perfume. An impressive effort in a difficult vintage.

Solid Sonoma cab. However, the 2011 does not have the complexity nor the fruit, than the 2010 Monte Rosso. This 2011 could not overcome the difficult cooler year and deliver.

Slight opaque red wine, medium intensity, cherry, all spice, green pepper nose, tart sour red cherry palate, acidic, bitter, lacking balance. Mid finish

Enjoyed comparing 2010 and 2011 with Christmas dinner rib roast. Both were delicious. 2011 was more subtle while 2010 was bigger and bolder.
