The 2013 Hobel Cabernet Sauvignon is a standout vintage that combines fruit-forward vibrancy with impeccable balance, earning its stripes as a remarkable expression of Napa Valley craftsmanship. Pouring a deep garnet, it captivates with an inviting bouquet of ripe berries, black currants, and a hint of dark chocolate.
On the palate, the wine reveals its true character – a symphony of rich fruit flavors led by luscious blackberry and cassis. The tannins are velvety, providing structure without overpowering the palate. This Hobel Cabernet achieves a rare equilibrium, where the fruit's exuberance is harmoniously counterbalanced by subtle hints of oak and a touch of well-integrated spice. The tannins were a bit chewy in the first hour but after 1-3 hours of decant the tannins balanced out.
The finish is a lingering crescendo, leaving a lasting impression of the wine's depth and finesse. Undoubtedly, this 2013 vintage showcases a level of craftsmanship that deserves recognition. I would concur with a 95-point rating, as the Hobel Cabernet Sauvignon masterfully marries fruit-forward allure with a refined balance that sets it apart in the world of Napa Valley wines. A true gem for those who appreciate a well-crafted and harmonious Cabernet Sauvignon.

For my money, the best QPR for a TRB wine. This still looks, smells, and drinks young, but has just enough age on it to have added depth. Seems like it could last enough 10 years easily, but in a nice place if you like your Napa wines on the younger side.

Pop and pour. Nice purple color. Nose offers dark red and black fruits. Hint of oak. Wonderful mox of dark fruits with refrshing acidity. Wine threw off a fair amount of sediment. Nice wine. Speaks of Napa cabernet but not i an overblown style.

More new oak influence than I remember. Started out with dark cherries and decent acidity and it kept getting darker and darker. I liked this a lot better back in 2015 or maybe my tastes have evolved. Who knows.

It has really hit its drinking window. PnP. Very aromatic with red fruit, spice, cedar, anise and chocolate. Similar flavors with the red fruit dominating. Not too much oak showing. Over the last year, the tannins have softened leading to a silky smooth long finish. Sadly my last bottle and probably the best.
