Community Tasting Notes (1)

  • First NY wine ever, and I would say that this is definitely not a wine to enjoy with an entree. This is more of your dessert wine. Even though it's mostly Sauv Blanc and Chardonnay with "a touch" of Riesling, the Riesling really bled through much more than it was supposed to. Initially opened to go with lasagna, and then put back in the fridge and enjoyed with BlueBell vanilla (a much better complement). Wine poured to a cloudy effervescence - color was amber with a hint of lime. Tangy citrus note on the nose. The wine initially was QUITE acidic and ALL lime zest with a LOT of effervescnce on the tongue. QUITE off-putting. Tasted like someone squeezed an entire lime into a bottle of sparkling wine and immediately threw it at you. NO SIR! After another bottle was opened to pair with the meal, this one was revisited (about an hour later). This time, the lime was cut down to about 50% of prior although still dominated the front. Grapefruit and more lemongrass in the middle and finish. Finished with some acidity, but tamed and actually balanced and just GOOD. Actually enjoyable. Wife gave up on this one very early, which is good for me because I got the whole bottle to myself! A warning sign needs to come on this one -- please for the love of {your higher being of choice } please don't drink this one until an hour after cork pop! This is a nice wine to enjoy now, although I don't know if I would enjoy this one with a MEAL (pre- or post- meal, this one would be great).
