Tasted blind. Ruby with a little bit of bricking. Complex and powerful aromas of blackberry, cassis, cedar, oak spic, tobacco, rotting dried leaves. The palate has lovely balance of soft black fruit, good weight, with great concentration and a very long finish. For me this was the stand out wine among five NZ red wines.

Minerally wet slate, plummy nose. Reminiscent of mature Bordeaux. Loads of fruit on the palate, dark plums and black fruits. Nice, smooth clean finish, but nothing to get overexcited about. Without a doubt a well made and tasty wine, but no real reason for me to buy again.

Jaggerfest 2017 (Harwood Arms, London): Served blind. Slightly herby, cab-franc feel to it. Lots of alcohol. Served a bit too warm and benefits from an ice cube to cool and dilute slightly. Retains the cab franc character. It's full and quite ripe. There is some interest here, but it's not really my thing. Insufficient complexity at this stage, and quite hard work. ***, but your money may vary.
