Decanted for one hour. Nose of blackberry, black cherry, currant, baker’s chocolate, spice and crushed rock. Black cherry, currant, baker’s chocolate, spice, crushed rock and fine tannins on the palate. Very long, layered finish. Full bodied. Served with reverse seared strip steaks and black truffle butter.

No notes. Impressions. This needs more time to soften the structure but doesn’t have the expected stuffing to go the long haul. More red fruited/structured than I would have expected. Hopefully the other 2013s will provide more.

Beautiful wine, big but not too big and not jammy. While my preference in general is more black fruited, there are many that I absolutely love but a lower percentage. This comes across with red fruit, currant but does have some black to balance things out, bitter chocolate, mild stone and some damp earth. Has plenty of time left but is drinking really well now.

Still young and tannic despite being 2013. It was really great after 2 hours of decanting.
