Splash decant. Very deep dark purple color. Chocolate pound cake, blackberry, and toasted earthy spice on the tight, oak dominated nose. Smooth, dry, chocolate and mineral-laden palate, with tongue coating acidity. Firm, full tannins on the longish finish.
This is very young at the moment, so my score is very prospective. The ‘19 3 Kings from the same vineyard seems a bit better at this stage.

Epic Napa Trip - Day 1: Tasted at Carter Cellars - This wine was a close 3rd in the lineup. Ultimately, I chose the OG as my number 2 based on the silkier mouthfeel, but it was very close for my palate! Both wines show amazing fruit and some secondary flavors. This was a little more floral, which I liked. Loads of black and purple fruit, some notes of chocolate, vanilla, tobacco and tar, with hints of cedar. An excellent wine that is drinking well now, but will surely improve. These wines are definitely for those who appreciate the modern style of winemaking! 95 for me, no problem and should pick up another point with some additional age. Very approachable now, but even better later....will wait until around the eight to ten year mark to drink these, even though they will last even longer.

Savory, sage and cherry on the nose. Nice mouthfeel, slightly astringent on the palate. Needs time but tons of potential.

Napa trip day 1: Drank a small glass over 45 minutes at the winery. Yeah, they're growing them big at Carter. Hedonistic.

Great wine an it has picked up some traction from the last time around. 96 Points with good upside potential.
