A private dinner (The Butcher's Arms *, Eldersfield, UK): Sweet fruit of red and black berries, toasty oak, soft but with a nice freshness, light tannins, juicy and nicely balanced, rather obvious and direct, but with a certain seriousness and a pleasant drink.

Folks, take your time with this...it's constricted and tightly wound at first - all I got was superficial fruit and alcohol. But an hour in the spices starting coming off. Cardamom big time on the nose, with throws of cedar, mocha, cherry and strawberry syrup. And that's just for starters. The balance of fruit and acidity comes in on the tail. I think this is starting to come to age...wine meniscus is beginning to fade a tad. Pleasant.

Slightly disappointed for the price. Red fruit but very little complexity.
