Monthly tasting club LTC 2018-05; Chaos (By BW @ LWH): Still youthful bouquet with a lot of cherries, red berries and green herbs. On the palate darke and red berries, vanilla, bell pepper, some medicine and sweetness. Good acidity and round, supple tannin. Will improve with 2 - 6+ years of ageing. 88 - 90+

Opened this after finding a $100 2012 WA cab too young to drink. Nice comparison: savoury and Bordeauxish with balanced fruit and herbaceousness plus some old world minerality that made it by far the most satisfying drink. Terrific value for under $20.

(Barons de Rothschild (Lafite) Los Vascos Grande Réserve) Very dark black-tinged red violet color; heavy reduction, roasted black fruit, tar, coffee nose; better on palate of black fruit, tar, coffee syrup and some balancing acidity; medium finish (blend of Cabernet Sauvignon, Carmenère, Syrah & Malbec; 14% alcohol; 12 months in French oak)

Not a lot of aroma, and mild flavors. I taste dark cherry and vanilla and some herb, but I wish these were stronger. Smooth, but thin.
