  • Really enjoyed this merlot after it had a chance to mellow out in the glass for a few minutes. This wine has really evolved nice balance and depth of flavors with a great aroma and silky smooth texture. Wine is at its peak, obviously from the first review back in 06 the wine had structure to last another 6 years no problem.

  • AFter we finished the Moon Mountain Cab Reserve 2001 I poured this one - also decanted. Very smooth, typcial dark berry like taste and full fruit nose- merlot all the way. Was a nice way to finish off the meal. silky full bodied, long finish. Good to sip after the main meal was over.

  • Opened this bottle with a 2000 Ch. Prieure Laland, St. Emilion. The Moon Mtn. was definitely a CA merlot, with a silky feel in the mouth and less obvious tannins than the bordeaux. Nose was a bit closed at first but had lots of fruit - blackberry, currant - most obvious. AFter a while got hints of cedar, pineapple, eggplant - at least for me. Lasted a few days after opening.

  • smooth as silk. great merlot aroma. nice mouth feel. while the winemaker suggests early consumption, the wine seems to have enough stuffing to remain graceful for at least another year if not longer. will look for more. great value, even at full retail.
