  • Not sure what went on here, but incredibly acidic. Bleh.

  • Deep urine yellow colour. Nose is butterscotch boiled sweets, wonderfully integrated oak, a smokiness, lemon curd and lemon meringue pie. Palate is beautifully full and well-rounded weighty attack balanced perfectly by fresh acidity with a similar butterscotch boiled sweets rememberance from my childhood and a lovely saline, buttery finish. Good length and a very persistent after-resonance in the head. This has real power in a light-footed frame but the acidity is somewhat out of harmony. I'm just pleased that it was so much better than a terribly disappointing bottle I drank at Christmas.

  • Urine gold colour. Attractive nose with no oxidation at all but this is very muted and simple for a Batard Montrachet, it took a lot of coaxing even though drank slowly throughout the day and evening: grated lemon zest, some flinty rock, hint of ozone and merest hint of melted butter. Palate is high citric acidity at the fore and rounded pebbles on the middle, finishing with very muted and barely discernable mild buttery oak but crowded out by more acidity. Just about has some length but no resonance, which is what you buy Batard Montrachet for. The level of acidity leaves it very disjointed overall. You wouldn't ever pick this as a Grand Cru in a blind tasting. Very poor - much too much like hard work to be enjoyable, especially at what I paid for it. The bleached-white cork looks to be the culprit.

  • Corked and premoxed! aaaagh! probably one of the most corked noses I have ever smelled. Oh well.

  • Burgundy dinner with multiple villages wine and food pairing. Bottle, fill, cork and color all excellent. No oxidation here. A lighter weight, higher acid wine than many Batards, but in keeping with the vintage. Mineral, light beurre, a lovely wine. This showed well with fish and seems to be holding up well, but I am not sure how much better it will get.
