This wine has gottenplenty of praise, especially on previous notes from others. I tracked down this 2012 Fort Ross - and it is at best an average wine. I was lured by the idea of the rugged California coast growing Cabernet Sauvignon...this a thin wine without power or finesse. Not sure why others are suggesting this will get better. I'll give this an 85.

Popped and poured, dark purple/garnet hue, quite youthful in appearance for a 10 year old CA Cab. Earth-driven aromas of dark fruits, subtle vanilla, spices (allspice or five spice even?) and hints of pipe tobacco. Quite structured yet surprisingly elegant, with well-integrated tannins balancing out the fruit driven close, which is accented by a subtle impression of saline minerals. A lovely drink at present, really hard to predict how much more this wine could improve but if well-stored, certainly has enough structure to age another 5+ years.

WT's. Ethereal red fruit with hints of bay leaf and cardamom. For all I've read reviews of Enfield wines I wasn't prepared for the Burgundian textures of this cabernet. Not shy, but reticently welcoming among a lot of blockbusters. Loved it.

Serve blind. Red fruited, some tobacco. Old school; my scribble note says "not screaming for attention". Tasted low alcohol, nice balance of fruit and acids. Ethereal; soft red berries; lingonberry? I really liked this, and it was well received by the group.

Needed an hour plus in the decanter to open up. Very elegant cab. No rush
