Deep ruby. Telltale Margaux scents of violets, wet gravel, tobacco and black currant core. Medium - medium/light body, slightly taut with good energy and fine tannins with with a refined spiciness on the finish. This was a deal.

I have a fond and vivid memory of the 2000 vintage of this wine wiping the floor with a bunch of fancier names at a dinner a few years ago. I dunno if this one will pull that off; Margaux is not exactly the sweet spot in 2014, and there is a bit of something reedy or twiggy intruding on what is otherwise gorgeously ripe fruit - slender and feminine in form but still brimming with sweet, primary, glossy red fruit. No oak flavors or evident tannin so it's both pure and accessible marred only by that reedy thing.

Annual Bolomey & Sprezzatura Wine Tasting (Restaurant Entrepot, Amsterdam, NL): Trade tasting, brief note. A blend of 70% Cabernet-Sauvignon, 10% Cabernet Franc and 20% Merlot. Light body, slightly vegetal but with a lovely purity of fruit expression, good length.
