  • June 2014 disgorgement. Rich and bready with real carry before a slightly oxidative note on the finish. Deeply flavoured with orchard fruits and a touch of spice. Rounded and vibrant, this is a class act.

  • 1990-99 1er cru dinner at The Bristol (Chicago, IL): Bottle 542, disgorged November 2013, with 3 g/L dosage. Surprisingly, despite the relatively low dosage, this is quite rich and fat, with a pretty dense texture. It hits all the spots Champagne should hit, but there's nothing particularly exciting or interesting about this bottle... well-executed, but a bit boring, though I did hear the next day that this got a lot better with more air.

  • 07 base, 06/08 bottling, 10/13 disgorgement. Mix of GC chardonnay from Avize and and 1er from Grauves. Nicely fresh and quite minerally, with a sense of depth and richness coming through, manifesting itself in a slight rounding of the fruit. Feels a good halfway house between youthful minerality and the creaminess of age. ****

  • Excellent showing, much better than a bottle enjoyed 6 months ago.

Clean and fresh, with lovely balance and length. Proper champagne

  • Bottle 545, from a cru sélectionné de 3500 bouteilles. L.2007/AVZGRV. Disgorged November 2013. Extra brut; 3g/L. Very pale colour. Slight mushroom and apple notes on the nose with a hint of seabreeze as well. Relatively coarse bead. The palate has a very savory saline character -- almost dry-sherry-like. Chalky minerality and bone-dry with intense teeth-dissolving acidity. Some green apple notes on the palate, if you look for them. A very cerebral and severe Champagne.
