Second Sunday Group: 2014 Volnay (Jeff's (hosted by Peter)): Double blind. Ruby color. Aromas of cherry, clay and spice. Flavors of dark cherry, spice and dark berries, with a soft finish. Seems a bit tight/restrained. Opens a little as it sits, showing a floral note as well as forest floor. Becomes a bit more firm on the palate as the tannins come forward. The components are there, this just seems to need more time.

Domaine Dublere Cellar Visit and Tasting (Savigny-les-Beaune): Barrel tasting at the domaine. Red cherry throughout with nice floral aromatics elements, plus good savory spice on nose and palate. Good concentration, slightly meaty vs usual for Volnay 1er Cru. Good potential.

Quick taste at a trade show. Didn't stand in a very competitive lineup. Solid choice, bigger style for Volnay it seemed.
