Really dark purple color. Nose of fresh herbs, grey tea and berries. Soft up front, velvet over tongue with dark fruit/berries and hint of dark chocolate and cedar. Gets brighter fruit after initial flavors. Finished with tight tannins, bright red fruit. Lacks any power on finish, but tannins linger.

Ive long waited to try Chase wines. Tasted the 2012 and 2013 petite sirah side by side. Big, rich, complex wines. Perfect for a cold day in late December. The noses were really similar, but a bit more of a menthol quality to the 2012. It was just a touch thinner in body, but firm tannins. The 2013 featured more pronounced fruit (plum) and fuller, but without as much tannic structure. Altogether they were very similar and tasting blind it was hard to tell apart. I'd gladly buy more of these!

Chase has an amazing ability to produce fanastic wines from their premier vines. Perfectly paired with venison for dinner, as its body was strong enough to stand up to the game flavor.

Excellent fully bodied, but not overly tannic.
