  • "You only YOLO once" (Chicago, IL): Initially, quite tight and reduced, but there was a lot of (under-the-table) shaking that seemed to help open up this wine. This is a super bright wine, full of youth still, and that brilliant 2013 acidity is here in spades. There's a really lovely mineral aspect to this wine as well, and it's overall a really fun and enjoyable bottle. Sweet, but the acidity stands out a touch more than I'd like. Of course, at the end of the day, we may not be so lucky to be able to have Keller Spätlese all the time, but this certainly brings us close to the experience.

  • PnP (screw cap), hints of honey in the first glass but nose opens up to peach and tropical notes with some air. Plenty of peaches and simple syrup sweetness on the palate, actually much sweeter and viscous than I was expecting. There are some faint hints of lime zest and wet stone but are masked by the sweetness and weight, along with any perceptible acidity. Nice peach skin notes on the lengthy finish.

Style & Quality: B-. The RS and lack of acidity really kills this for my tastes. It does have a clean-not-cloying finish, but that's not enough for me to drop the minus. I hate making predictions, but I didn't sense enough acid to give me hope that aging will help.

Value: B. Wine Authorities $19.99; not a terrible price but not a value for me.

    Overall: B-

  • UNP. Open for a couple days. Color light straw. Nose shows lime rind and mineral bite. Swishing shows dense acidity w citrus mostly grapefruit flavors. Sipping shows clean fruit but significant RS that is more prominent when chilled. Technically correct but a little sweet for my taste.
