The nose is the stronghold of this wine. Certainly complexity here, a touch of pleasant petrol. The palate though, is slightly out of balance. Honey and dates. I am getting some oak notes, but not even sure this wine was ever in touch with oak. As previous tasters mentioned, this lacks acidity, maybe because of the hot vintage. I was still living in Germany at the time and remember it was very hot until late in September in a summer that back then felt like it was the hottest ever. Also agree that there is bitterness. Nevertheless, I am happy that there is producers that hold back their wine for so many years and that you can get a sense of what aged riesling is about for a below $20 purchase today.

Medium sweet with honey tones and a nice little petrol note. A bit of bitterness on the finish. Quite nice. Cork was difficult to get out but that’s probably on me.

A little simple, but still really nice. Acidity was missing a bit and there wasn't a super expressive palate or nose (no petrol), but some nice lightly aged tropical, melon and citrus with a creaminess. Not too sweet, but since the acidity wasn't strong it did sometimes taste a little dull honey sweet. Great to be able to buy an aged Riesling at this price point (sub-$20 at Binny's), but it was missing some elements. Drink now, but definitely not over the hill either.

Honey and lemon on the nose, with just a hint of petrol. I popped this with some really spicy leftover Chinese and it was perfect. There is considerable sweetness still, which counterbalanced the heat nicely. The acidity is there, but a bit thin. With another meal, this might not have worked as well. Good thing I am a "fortunate genius". Very Good. thedrunkencyclist.com

Honey with notes of petrol and oak. Mildly sweet and drinking beautifully with a nice nose. I hope a couple years might bring out a touch more petrol.
