A fragrant but overly dry and unbalanced wine. Juicy flavors of all of the earthy mix one would expect from a Cotes Du Rhone, just not the fruit explosion given the grainy and dry mouth feel. Long finish with that same tongue impression of dryness.

Super Southern Rhone (Prince Sydney, 40 Hansard Street): Slight cloves, red berry fruit with plentiful savoury spice and baked elements. A little tart and metallic with font of gum grip. The fruit dissipates rather rapidly leaving a sense of disappointment.

Mont Redon lunch (The Hughenden Hotel, Woolahra): That baked earth Grenache scent…almost sweet red berries, spice, warm earth, cream…in the mouth it's juicy with fleshy red fruit over peppery spice, low intensity fine talc textured mid palate tannins. Finishes short and warm but perfectly pleasant if not a little anonymous.
