Day 1: Not as good as in 2023 but still solid. White pepper, minerals, earth, spices and red currants. Complex wine and medium finish. 93 points Day 2: This is amazing on day 2 and offers what I love about good Syrah. White pepper, red currants, blueberries, minerals, forest floor, earth, spices and tar. Medium plus finish. Balanced wine and nice acidity. No need to hurry on drinking these. 94+ points Recommendation: Seek and find these at auctions as they can be found for amazing prices.

Decanted one hour. Huge improvement over the bottle opened in 12/22. A pretty perfect Rocks syrah with elegant dark red fruit well in front of the green olives, tar and Rocks funk. The tannins are silky but not soft--there's still some structure here. In fact, at ten years this is the best Stonessence I've had. From here, should coast in a cool cellar for up to five years easy, no rush.

Velvety nose with whiffs of green pepper and green apple. Not too aromatic. Cherry and blood wash over the entire mouth with an upper mid bodied slow fade towards a long satisfying finish.
MUST decant. Opened notably at 3 hours

This was as good as any Syrah I have ever had. It has melded the Rocks funk perfectly with an elegant Syrah fruit and the combination is gorgeous. Tannins are all but gone and the blueberry compote fruit shines with notes of roasted meat and olive tapenade. The wine shows complex layers and finishes long and with a fine hint of mixed peppercorns. If this has an upside it's hard to imagine.
