Briceland Vineyards Tasting (Briceland, CA): Smells of peaches, white flowers, lemon oil and a hint of pepper. So bright and clean on the palate with a salty appeal on top of lemon, orange peel and kiwi fruit. Delicious, nervy and intriguing. Not much Arneis in California, but Mendocino is home to some very good stuff.

Relatively consistent with my earlier note, I noticed much more of a floral note with this bottle. Really like the acidity on this wine and the light body makes for easy drinking.

The Other 7% of California (Chicago, IL): Very spicy and somewhat aggressive green herbal notes on the nose. The palate comes off a little more dilute and watery, but not necessarily in a bad way. This is a simpler, more accessible drinking wine, with a pleasant touch of citrus on the palate. And in fact I'm actually quite reminded by the Giacosa rendition of Arneis that I had a week or two ago. Perhaps by nature of the grape this will never be a great wine, but there's definitely enjoyment to be had just the same.

Pours a light yellow with aromas of peony, and sweet lemon.
Flavors are primarily citrus, lemon (not sweet), lime, a squeeze of grapefruit. Medium- body with good acidity, paired well with sushi. The citrus flavors reminded me of Sauvignon Blanc, but with a bit more aroma, body and complexity. Quite a nice change of pace. 13.4% abv.
