Pale and crystal clear. Good initial fizz, medium-ish movement. Tart pear or quince, grassy(?); no yeast, but something pleasantly chemically organic. A little buttered toast and sweet maderized roundness. I'd say still a ways off from peak maturity. Drunk over 2 hours at dinner paired first with deep fried cheese ravioli and a spicy marinara-niçoise thing that I feel really complemented the zippy, initial stage of the wine. It really melded and settled down for dessert (turtle cheesecake, or ilk).
*not an accomplished Champagne taster, but I did my best.

Nat cork. Very pale gold in the glass with lots of active, fast moving bubbles. Pretty uplifting nose of honey, dough, and a touch of flowers. Full bodied, creamy, graham cracker flavors and a hint of sweetness. Enjoyed.

50+5+11+11+4 Was overly yeasty and very disappointing in relation to the 1998. Almost cumbersome to drink. The abundant and lively effervesence continues forever in the glass, and visually it's a gorgeous Champagne. Nose of yeast and white flowers, apple and more yeast on the palate, finish of still more copious yeast. Poorly disgorged bottle?

Medium yellow, but not lacking color or intensity. Notes of lime meringue with mint. Crisp and pleasant. Goes to somewhat fishiness and minerality. Transitions well to finish, but what a peculiar taste. This isn't as good as the others, but the nose is appealing. A $45 retail 1999 isn't bad, but I don't know if Id invest in this now OR in the future.

Very light and crisp. Tons of pin point effervescence! The nose was pear and white floral. It was very light and bright in the mouth with more pear and some citrus, and a bit of green apple on the finish. Very complex for a blanc de blanc. It easily stood on it's own without food, yet would have paired well with quite a few things.
