Colour: some evolution, brick red Nose: cherries & blackberries, iron, leather Palate: combination of fresh and more evolved fruit, med + acidity, fine tannin at the back. Very approachable but also still keepworthy.
There are some obvious similarities with the nebbiolo cousins of the Langhe. But a Gattinara like this one is surely much lighter and ethereal, so other stylistic resemblances come to mind (Etna, Burgundy)
Bought at the winery in 2017 for €15. Very good pqr for a old world terroir wine.

Colour: Ruby red with some browning at the rim. Med intensity. Nose: wild cherries, strawberries, roses, tar and iron Mouth: fruity attack, red fruit beautifully present and still in a primary fase, high fraicheur, med- body, tannin is very Gattinara-style: very fine and ripe but hits your tongue and gums with a blast. A little rustic in style, and demanding without food, but it shines with meat stews, tomato sauce or truffle pasta.

Somewhat lifted nose, with both cherry fruit and more savoury earth/coffee.
Wonderful balance on the palate, manging to be both soft and rounded, yet also with refreshing acidity and soft but persistent tannins.

Cherries, floral notes, mineral. Masses of tannin and beautiful acidity. Brilliant Gattinara, would love to see it again in 10 years.
