Community Tasting Notes (3) Avg Score: 86.5 points

  • This is similar to the '12, which I tasted just a short while before, but with less petrol and a lot more acidity, as one would expect from a younger Riesling, with dominant lemon on the palate, though with stone (peach) and tropical (pineapple) fruit just peeking out. There's also less complexity, again given its youth, but the potential is clearly there for significant improvement in terms of both greater breadth and depth of flavour and of overall balance, as the acidity needs to soften and the sharp, overly tart lemony notes need to be better integrated so as to allow other, complementary notes to emerge. Still, there's a lot to like here even now, in that sharper, zestier way, and certainly the quality isn't surprising coming from such a reliable producer. It's an 87 now, but it should age into an 88 like other vintages.
