A head turner Cali, Cab dominated BDX blend for just $32 locally on release! Beat that! Ca only accounts for 4% of my cellar while France & Italy are 90%. Even so, I find much kinship w/ Mount Eden Estate & Domaine Eden wines. Apparently, so are others these days as the Estate wines have jumped in cost. The Domaine Eden BDX blend offers some added richness & fruit of CA Cabs but also delivers Santa Cruz Mt structure to prevent it from feeling heavy or monochromatic. There is terroir expression & depth aplenty to please any Euro wine fan while also please my 37yr daughter & son-in-law last night for a dual grandsons birthday celebration with burgers & dogs. Bravo Mt Eden! 14% alc went unnoticed. I slow-oxed in a Ridel BDX glass & btl for 3-1/2 hours prior to dinner. Served in high 50s/low 60s. A 5 grape blend for any wine usually enhances the whole & it likely did here.

This was a surprise. This baby brother to the Mt. Eden Cab was spectacular. Did not decant it which I normally do, but found the wine showed much better without the decant. This wine was purchase new and properly stored.

Still great. Bad cork but hadn’t leaked and thus doesn’t seem to have impacted the wine, other than having to strain out a few bits of cork. No great improvements over the last bottle drunk about a year ago. I still think this has several more years before it starts declining.

Nice nose but I found it a little too lean on the palate. Good wine.
