Fairly charming wine in the sour, rough, dirty, edgy style you often get when you order a carafe in a Trattoria in Italy. Nice, as long as you're eating pizza, or similare fare.
Intriguing forest and pine notes combined with everything from tart red fruits to coffee and chocolate. That said, this wine certainly isnt unfocused - it just covers a lot of ground as it goes through its progressions. The acidity is pronounced, but does well to offset the wealth of rich flavours presented. This wine was created with an unusual, if not interesting technique, blending 80% of the current vintage and with 20% from the previous 4 vintages. This results in consistancy and hedges against vintage variation. Without trying multiple versions of the Casamatta, it's hard to say whether the wine benefits from this approach - I guess I'll have to keep my eye out for the next batch and see!

Great easy drinking everyday wine under 20$. (Day 2) Solid dark berry notes, very smooth in the mid palate with a medium finish. Paired with a Porcini Risotto. Excellent combo.

An attempt to get back to "tradition". So this is a solera started several years ago. Hey, that is kinda a nice soft juicy wine. Easy going.
