tasted blind, totally misjudged the vintage, thought it was quite young, there was even some heat to sugguest that. Overall quite inpressive need to look more into Volnay.

Burgundy 2012 Day 6: Lunch at Le Millésime (Chambolle-Musigny, Burgundy): A lovely Volnay village - this really surprised us with how yummy it was. Unusually for a 2002, it was very advanced and drinking quite at peak. It had a wonderful nose, bursting with dried flowers and exotic spice, with lovely cherry aromas backed up by some meaty, earthy notes in the background. Really pretty - this is how I often imagined an archetypal Volnay bouquet to be. The palate was really delicious too. It was on the light-side reflecting its village status, but had a wonderfully charming prettiness to it, showing perfectly poised and balanced flavours of sweet dark cherries and fresh berries laced with perfumed flowers and spice. A touch of fine tannins and nice fresh acidity provided a good sense of support for the wine and helped to make it a lovely pairing with a pork-belly dish. This was really enjoyable.

Bought it 2006 at the vineyard. Drinks beautifully in 2015. Silly, light yet complex.
