Sweet, but with a fair dose of minerality and also acidity. Petrol notes emerging, but will get more profound with age. Big lemon meringue pie vibe going on at this stage.

A bit more balance and structure than WS bottling of the same vintage. For all of the hype about Doctor as the best Riesling site in Mosel (if not the entire DE), I don't taste a large gap between two sites in Wegeler's 05 construction.

Bolognese and doughnuts (Tim's, SF): So good! Medium yellow color with reflections of gold and straw. Beautiful petrol, slightly wilted flowers, saffron-wax botrytis, slightly bruised lemon (developed)
Feels 8% (correct), 40g/L RS. Medium plus acid, strong mineral notes - like flat Pellegrino on the midpalate just before the finish. Beautiful stony midpalate.
103 Oechsle

(Wegeler Bernkasteler Doctor Riesling Spätlese) Light medium yellow color; exotic, lifted, refined, mineral, light white cheese nose; ripe peach, tart peach, tart nectarine, tangy, mineral palate with good acidity; long finish
(Wegeler Berncasteler Doctor Spatlese) There is something so aromatic about the Doctor from a ripe year. Wonderful harmony on the nose with pure wet stones and mesmerizing slate aromas. Candied but in such a silky perfect way. Nose of the flight for sure...but more was to come. Amazingly pure, mineral, delicate concentrated palate. Such perfect delineation. Now I see why this vineyard is perhaps the most famous in the Mosel. It has underperformed for years but the '05's from Wegeler have to be the best in a while. Dazzling and more Doctor was to come.

A beautifully nuanced, rich wine. Sweet, yes, but not overly so, with enough minerality and depth of flavor to make it food friendly.
