  • The deep golden yellow delivers cream, baked apple and its spices, pear, lemon oil, vanilla and coconut. A bold mouthfeel, but with balance and richness. The cocoanut is intense. Of Brian’s 2014 Chards, the Sierra Mar is my favorite profile as a “wine suspended between fruit and acidity”. The tremendously long and satisfying finish is a capstone that completes the wine. This is a bottle that reflects both its place and its maker. Thanks, Brian. 14.3% alc. With Ina’s crispy mustard roast chicken. Recommended.

  • No so much buttered popcorn now, but showing abundant cream, baked apple, vanilla and coconut complimented with baking spice (particularly nutmeg) pear and lemon oil. A bold mouthfeel, but with balance and richness. The cocoanut is intense. My most recent note spoke of a “wine suspended between fruit and acidity” and that is certainly still true for this bottle. The finish is tremendously long. 14.3% alc. With homemade sweet potato ravioli under sausage and peas in a cream sauce. Recommended.

  • Is it possible that this has grown in the bottle? It may not be as big as the 2013 but it is bigger than I recall. “Buttered popcorn, cream, baked apple, vanilla and coconut” captured the essence of the profile, but don’t do justice to the boldness of the wine. Yet it’s a balanced wine suspended between the fruit and acidity. The finish is tremendously long. 14.3% alc. With homemade chicken pot pie. Recommended.

  • The 2013 is a bigger wine than this, but this is no wilting violet. Buttered popcorn, cream, baked apple, vanilla and coconut. Despite the fruit, the wine shows balance between the fruit and acidity. Nothing flabby here. This is a wonder New World expression of the grape. 14.3% alc. With left-over shrimp and vegetables. Recommended.

  • Nice acid, good fruit, but lacks in complexity
