  • Bourgogne blanc, with Chassagne-Montrachet pedigree. Elegant, refined, winsome. Reminder of what is great about white Burgundy.

  • Double decanted for 2 hours to try to help this youngster expand, but without much luck. Nice nose but very faint. Nice flavor but not enough of them. A little too thin, and tight. Last bottle 6 months ago showed better. Maybe its a little closed down... good for the money

  • More cream and richness on the nose, more laid back and less tense than the Jobard. All the vineyards are in the low part of Chassagne. It's sustainable, he is moving to organic but he believes that the high risk in Burgundy because of the big danger of rot. So 5 acres are now organic and he is seeing what happens. Jean-Pierre great wine maker and great farmer. He uses 50 pickers because if you put in MOG it will contaminate the wine with rot or other other diesease so we must have only good grapes in the boxes. So very costly but important for him.

At press only two hours maximum. CHilled decanting for a couple of hours. Then put in another tank for fermentation on native yeast, and then... when 75% alcohol fermenation is done he barrels. He barrels when there is still some fermenation going on but not enough to heat up the barrels. So the end of alcoholic is very slow, but he will have better integration of the wood tannin. This goes on in barrel often for two to four months. Then malo starts by itself, no battonage. ANd then racked in July barrel to barrel. No new oak in this wine. As well as the Bourgogne Aligote. The Chassagne 15% new oak, 1er cru 30-35% percent. The big dogs 60 - 70% new oak.

WIth that quinie character of white burgundy.

  • "Boy do I love that nose, God" notes Charly. Candied fruits and crushed spices, "wow" again notes Charly. And the palate is rather beautiful as well. Crisp and vibrant, rich.
