Opened while finishing a blind tasting of Colgin’s Tychson Hill, IX Estate and Cariad of the same vintage. The OVX held its own, but lacked a bit of the strength compared to the Colgins.

Took an hour to blossom but when it did, this was excellent! Definitely Eastern Oakville, excuse me for thinking this might be from Tench! Black cherries, somewhat candied, allspice, Christmas fruit cake, purple fruit, burning embers. One hour of air and this hit its peak, my standard here is Bevan’s Tench, this ain’t that but it’s close and still good. The difference here is that the OVX is lighter and less inky, not bad or good, just different.

Decanted two hours but needed another hour to open up. Thick and monolithic on the palate with delicious flavors of milk chocolate, dark berries, and a hint of mint. Crowd pleaser.

Great wine, deep red color with corresponding red fruits, well balanced, nice nose, slightly thin on the finish, but otherwise great, drinking well
