Nose: blueberry muffin, cassis, slight mocha, a whiff of raw alcohol.
Palate: Soft tannins that take about 10 seconds to become present. The finish lights up 10 seconds after the sip and lasts a good 30 seconds after that. Juicy ripe berry, small amount of leather; chocolate.
At 17 years I think this wine is now perfectly mature, yet probably not in danger of making the “drink up” list for a while longer.
Given that these grapes were picked within weeks of my wife and I saying "I do" to each other, it was an especially memorable wine.

Decanted for a good hour. Very limited impact. Much like its sibling the 2006 G Major Seven Study ( Papies 90) is a classy, well made wine. Good flavor , good depth of fruti but lacks a charm, a complexity and almost felt monotonous albeit that is really a very harsh comment to make for a wine like this. Still the strength the 14.8% alc and the attempt to make it a bit more accessible at a younger age reduces its charm factor. 90

A bit of a disappointment. Flavors overall were "there", but on the nose there wasn't much going on, and the wine had flabby tannins without any backbone.

Beautifully integrated fruit. Soft tannins. Really elegant and even better than when I last tasted it about 6 months ago.

very good and enjoyable but fairly straightforward; not a lot of nuance
