Third Thursday Does More Red Burgundy (Willamette Wine Storage, Portland OR): This smells refreshing and reminds me of spring air and a plate of freshly sliced cherries served alongside a lightly grilled steak dusted with black pepper. Dark cherries and cranberries show immediately on the palate, and full acidity and even, tasty tannins set in later. The fruit is clean, clear, and of high quality. The wine has a gentle touch, and the cherries linger long on the finish. Yum!

Very light mushrooms on the nose, coupled with really pleasing, vibrant fruits. Pleasingly balanced. The palate shows similar balance of fruit and structure. Fantastic. Really impressive, with a tannic clout throughout, but there's plenty of apparent minerality and acids which are pretty intense and tasty. Pure grace on the finish. Really impressive balance, with great acids. Drinking well, but I'd wait 5-10 years on this.

Balsalmic cooked cherries on the nose, intertube, mushroom and earth. Bright red fruit that has a dark edge on the palate, showing old wood, citrus, and tough tannins. I would say based on the taster that this needs more time to mellow out, the structure is a little tough and in the forefront currently.

(Gambal Alex Vosne-Romanée Les Suchots) A wine that followed the '96 Drouhin Musigny and despite that, a very good showing. The colour is medium red, halfway between between cherry and ruby. The nose eventually becomes a lovely blend of sweet red and black fruit following ~40 minutes of so-so performance. Nicely concentrated and complex fruit of interesting and mouthwatering expression. The acidity is good and the tannins are a little grainy - but none of the astringency of some '98's. The finish is mouthwatering and quite long too. Very nice wine without a doubt.
