Drank as a pop pour opened for 2-3 hours. Nothing special for the price and essentially a Paul Hobbs Cabernet. Dark fruited with cassis and vanilla. Needs a few years.

Did a wine tasting at JA wine room in Palermo section of Buenos Aires. Wanted to taste some really high end Argentine wines, but had to buy the bottle to do so. The guy we were working with recommended the Cobos Volturno as top of the line so we took the splurge.
This was popped and poured because we had no decanter - it is a massive wine. The nose is all dark fruits (blackberries) and dark chocolate. It felt almost syrupy on the palate and the high level of alcohol was very evident. My companions enjoyed the wine much more than I did but to me it was over extracted and just too ripe. Caveat - We drank this without food, as the first glass of the evening without the benefit of a decant. Perhaps it would have been more enjoyable if it had more time to open, but I don't think this was good value as we experienced it.

Luscious cherry nose. Chewy light berry flavor with a medium long finish. Delicious!
