If you're looking for a representative sample of a bistro wine++, this is it.
Don't like grippy, red-fruited, slightly stalky reds with soaring aromatics, exotic spices and a solid core of wet granite? Fine. More for me. And at under $15 as others pay by the gram for turn-to-eleven extract and tongue-coating, food-assaulting, wallet-grabbing black-fruit holes. Excellent QPR and such a high pleasure factor.
My "stranded on an island wine" (though the coconut-inflected sweet toasted oak notes of many a "higher rated" wine might go better with, well, all those coconuts as I search the island over, looking for a outcrop of steak frites.).

A hint of Brett on this bottle, and perhaps a bit less harmony on day 1 than previous noted with the bitterness not quite as well integrated - and the back end seems a bit more jolly-rancher. A bit more black/white pepper and less green pepper in this bottle keeps things interesting. Still, tremendous value and a joy to drink at $12!!

Drinking well still, typical, not too minerally, little to no green, and also I picked up persistent spices. Very good QPR.

Cherry, currant, licorice and char nose and flavours. Medium-bodied, bright, balanced finish. Charred cherry aftertaste.
3/5
