Surprisingly fresh after 6 years and 2 hours of decanting. Nice medium ruby, with cooked cherries, garrigue and meat. Good acidity and smooth tannins. Very enjoyable now, I doubt it will improve but can easily stay another 2 years.

Decanting showed little sediment. Transparent garnet color. The nose initially comes off with a fairly one dimensional but pleasant red fruit aroma. But with additional air the spicy garrigue aromas become apparent. Medium bodied with nice balance in the finish between fine tannins, acidity, garrigue, and some tar. Enjoyed with meatloaf.

This wine needs air and to go with an appropriate food. Fairly harsh on the finish the first night. Tannin and acidity seemed out of balance. After recorking and giving it a day of air, much smoother balanced finish on the savory spices side.

Whangarry Game of Rhones (My house): Red, spice, bramble and touch of plum. Good fruity backbone on the palate, opened up about 2 hours in to show good poise, touch of spice and generous but humble fruit. Would suit simple food
