  • Opened by Allred. This is about the 10th Champagne I have had from this producer and the 2nd time I have had this wine. Clean and freshwith a fine bead. Lemon notes with some apple and pear thrown in. This was not as good as the previous bottle that I had in 2016. 89 points.

  • Bruised apple and a nice hint of meunier funk. Medium bead. Ripe pear on the palate. Very nice.

  • A new batch for me. The label tells me that it is entirely from the 2017 harvest although vintage status is not claimed. 100% meunier. The website tells me that it is from a single parcel and gets 9 months on the lees in enamel vats and then 3 years minimum in bottles before disgorgement, which makes it a recent batch. The dosage is 7g/l.

The colour is quite a light straw; after it's been open a few minutes the mousse is fine and quite light. The nose is toasty, but also with hints of citrus. The palate is quite complex: notes of bruised apple, citrus, and a yeastiness which comes to the fore on the clean finish where it is almost Marmitesque and there is a mineral note as well.

Overall this is a wine I like very much indeed. It's not rich exactly but it's also far from austere. 7g/l is pretty much at the top end of dosage that I would normally drink, but I don't find this at all cloying. It probably works best with at least some light food though - for me it is a bit weighty for a stand-alone aperitif.

And the best bit about this wine is that I can get it here in Hong Kong for ~US$32, at which price it is outstanding QPR.

  • This is a rather nice champagne.

Bruised pear and a touch of yeast/bread on the nose. The palate has more of that pear and apple, just a hint of citrus, particularly on the finish. A little complex, and very nicely balanced. Not at all cloying despite the intensity - the dosage (no info on the label beyond "brut") is well-judged.

The flavours are perhaps a little more intense than some would prefer for a stand-alone aperitif fizz, but it works very well with canapés and other lighter food. I can see it working with cheese also.

This is excellent QPR at the ~US$31 that I paid.

  • Brief notes from memory. Lots of bruised apple, citrus and cashew. Drinking very well at the moment.
