  • From glass. Open, closed, and then open again nose of sweet, juicy dark fruit - a little distant but delightful. Slivers of cocoanut, later hints of bell pepper; before first sip, creamier. Pleasure awaited. Palate: very balanced, very clean. Lively acid, diffuse but not obviously obstructive tannin. Fresh red/dark fruit, some attractive bitterness. Overall impression: this could have been a beefy Morgon. Hmm... of quality, pleasant drinking now, very likely not yet at its best, but I'm a little more skeptical than hopeful.

  • A very well made wine, but also not an easy one to review. After 4+ years, this clearly is not even close to ready to drink. Could be in a closed period, but I'd say give it another 10 years. Definitely dark fruits -- I tasted thorns, so maybe more blackberry than blueberry, but plenty of both. Grippy tannins, even though decanted for 2 hours. The big question: will this turn into bitter cranberry juice or something refined (if thorny) and magical? Time will tell -- so hold onto yours for a few years. Don't know what to score this at present.
