shared with ellen, mahesh and pat at selkirk manor. we were celebrating ellen winning her first case in court. should have opened a better bottle but this was impromptu and i did not have another chilled white on hand. i bought this knowing that it was probably over the hill but the price was deeply discounted. the wine shows golden color which is the first clue that it is probably too old. lively citrus fruits described when the wine was young are no longer evident. presently, fruit is dried out and taste is dominated by butter scotch. not enough sweetness to say that this will evolve into a sauternes like product or anything else interesting.

A light- to medium-yellow in the glass, the nose of this Monterey Co. chardonnay featured pear, apple, and apricot. The palate joined these notes with a dash of citrus, butter and oak. It is medium-bodied, with modest acidity. It was very good, though lacking the depth, complexity, or long finish to warrant a higher score. Great QPR on this at less than $10.

Strong aftertaste. Bottle is past it's prime. Oaky barrel taste. Strong alcohol. Strong perfume. Gold color.

Apple and pear on the nose. Lovely mouth-feel, still rich, with good acidity. Talk of its demise have been exageratted. Still drinking well.

More butterscotch tonight, so I think that this one had reached the end of the line. Still excellent and will be happy to try the subsequent vintages.
